Local artist - Cornwall
Living in Liskeard, midway between the Cornish moors and the sea, I have the best of both worlds. The Cornish coast, with its long sandy beaches, little coves and old fishing villages, have long been a source of inspiration to artists.
But what I love best are the wide open spaces of the windswept moors, with their craggy outcrops, ancient stone circles and quoits, not forgetting more recent relics of tin and copper mines. I love the mist shrouded tors and the light on the landscape when the sun breaks through, changing the colours of bracken and marsh to rose and gold.
This is what inspires me and what I try to capture in my paintings.
I paint in both pastels and watercolour, choosing the medium which I hope best suits the subject.
I am a member of the East Cornwall Society of Artists, exhibiting at their gallery in Polperro, also of the Artists in Cornwall group who hold four or five exhibitions each year at the Old Schoolhouse in Polperro. The Looe Pastellists’ Group, of which I am also a member, hold a fortnight’s exhibition at the end of July each year, which also takes place at the Old Schoolhouse in Polperro.
